Annalaura Di Luggo
NAPOLI EDEN

Sinopsis
Annalaura di Luggo, Neapolitan artist and visionary, proposed a bold concept of cultural and social rebirth for her city by transforming discarded scraps of recycled aluminum into monumental works of art, enlisting the aid of some troubled teenagers from the Spanish Neighborhood of Naples and offering them a new perspective on life …

          A Journey into the light

The whole story is the adventure of the Neapolitan artist Annalaura di Luggo (awarded at the 58th Venice Biennale) who is about to face the city of Naples for the installation of her gigantic works, made using recycled aluminum waste. The choice of aluminum, a symbolic material in the logic of the recovery and transformation of the material, allowed us to construct the slender plot of this feature, alongside the deeds and the construction of the artist's works in parallel with those of the street urchins of the Spanish quarters . The contrast between these two different and opposite worlds will result in an interesting collaboration, perhaps only a truce, but perhaps also the beginning of an amalgam that has to do with growth and hope. All in the name of art. Because just like Annalaura to build her works, she goes around the deposits in search of glittering scraps of the metal she wanted, the neighborhood kids collect old toys and other garbage abandoned next to the bins of the city, then transforming it into surprising sculptures, under the guidance of the craftsman-carpenter Salvatore Iodice. Naples Eden wants to raise awareness on the protection of the environment through the theme of aluminum recycling and wants to transfer a vision of an ethical and cultural redemption and rebirth of Naples by leveraging the social inclusion of the "street urchins" of the Spanish neighborhoods, involved by the artist in the construction of an alternative and sparkling tree classified as one of the 3 most beautiful trees in Italy with that of Rome and Milan. In addition to the young boys, three adult characters from the neighborhoods selected by the artist posed in front of her camera for a shot of their irises which were included in the work Geminus located in the center of Neapolitan alleys with the aim of transferring a "new vision ”, that of a radical change of mentality, where the alleys are no longer the scene of clashes and violence, but a place of welcome and interest in international tourism.
